Aurora Montessori School
Designed & Made in Canada
For Aurora Montessori School, Fern Kids designed, fabricated, and installed a full suite of custom Montessori classroom furniture, including a lit bulletin board and whiteboard system and a signature reading tree. Wall-mounted cork bulletin boards were built as modular panels with a recessed LED strip that gently washes the tackable surface, paired with custom whiteboard panels in the same cabinet-grade frame family so writing and display surfaces read as one continuous, cohesive learning wall. Anchoring each classroom's reading corner is a low, soft-seated tree nook hugged by built-in book storage, finished in warm green tones with a canopy overhead and gentle string lighting.

Practical life is where independence gets built one small task at a time, so two more pieces were designed entirely around a child's hands: a custom washing station with paired basins — one for washing, one for rinsing — finished with a catalyst topcoat to survive years of daily water, and a low cutting table sized for children to prep real food with real tools, safely. Every piece was designed, fabricated, and installed by Fern Studio in Baltic birch with low-VOC finishes — made in Ontario, installed on-site in Aurora.
