The clients came to Fern Studio with a clear vision: a dedicated play space that felt like an extension of the home's architecture rather than an afterthought. Set against tall timber and generous natural light, the brief called for something sculptural, layered, and alive.
The clients came to Fern Studio with a clear vision: a dedicated play space that felt like an extension of the home's architecture rather than an afterthought. Set against tall timber and generous natural light, the brief called for something sculptural, layered, and alive.
Fern Studio responded with a custom indoor play structure clad in sage-painted horizontal panelling, with integrated climbing holds, a crawl tunnel, and an upper platform with railing. A sculptural maple tree — with organic branching arms and soft sage canopy discs — anchors the space and doubles as a built-in bookshelf. Green turf ties the zone together, carrying the home's indoor-meets-outdoor sensibility into the children's room. Designed with Elle3 Design, built by Fern Studio in Cambridge, Ontario.
